Arsenal.com is a very popular and highly successful website with over
40 million page impressions per month. It is ranked in the top four
football club sites in the world, the top 12 general football sites and
the top 40 sports sites. We now want to give it an American voice.

This would be a job for a home-worker. Either in the US or the UK.

Main role: To manage and create content on USA.Arsenal.com. We want to
make this THE home page for the American Arsenal fan. You will sub-edit
stories from the main Arsenal.com site. You will also contribute bespoke
news/features for the US site. You will need to be available for
first-team games.

Working hours: An average working week will consist of three afternoons
(UK time) and a matchday (UK time). Note: US candidates will need a very
flexible attitude to working hours. This will include unsocial hours. You
will need to be available by phone or email.

Writing skills. You must have excellent writing ability in a variety of
styles. Short, snappy news stories, features, blogs etc. It is essential
that you have experience in writing for the American soccer market.

Ability to use a website content management system. The club website uses
a tailor-made, web-based CMS. This can be learnt relatively quickly but you
would need to be very proficient after a short space of time. Ability to
choose and crop pictures for use is also necessary.

Sub-editing skills. Much of the work will be subbing stories from the main
site for use on USA.Arsenal.com. You would need to able sensibly handle
other people’s stories quickly and efficiently.

Ideas generation. You need to be a self-starter who knows the US and UK
soccer scene in detail. You will need to contribute ides for stories/
features.

Strong knowledge of English soccer. Not just Arsenal FC but UK wide and
possibly Europe too.

Experience in American sports journalism. A knowledge of the US market is
important as this position will be important in the growth of this website
in America.

Ability to write from an Arsenal FC perspective. This post is writing for
the club’s official website. All content must fit in with the Club’s
overall public relations policy and yet appeal to American-based Arsenal
fans.

Awareness and understanding of digital content. Understanding of the new
media environment for an editorial and commercial perspective

Desirable skills
· Fluent Spanish speaker/writer
· Experience/ability in presenting for TV or Radio
· Video editing – use of Final Cut Express/Pro

skills. You will have impeccable attention to detail and be self-motivated
and enthusiastic.

WEB CONTENT EDITOR WANTED

We're looking for several smart, detail-oriented editors to edit web
content covering a wide variety of topics.

Requirements. Applicants must have:

1. the ability to comfortably work on a variety of subjects (from

The Work in a Nutshell. A small group of writers will be assigned to you.
You'll work through our customized, online, content management system to
edit the short articles (typically 400 to 600 words) that your writers
submit, insert basic HTML coding, and coach writers on how to improve
their writing.

You can choose your hours and work from anywhere you have an internet
connection.

Initiative and Discipline. While flexibility is a great benefit of this
position, it also requires that you have the self-discipline to do a good
job while maintaining timely turnaround times. You must be able to take
initiative and work independently.

Time Commitment. We'll need you to commit at least 10 hours of work per
week, although that number can vary based on how much content your assigned
group of writers produce. There is, however, enough work for significantly
more hours per week, if you are interested. You will have to edit daily or,
at the very least, every other day.

This position is available to US citizens only.

We require that our applicants go through a testing process. You will be
paid the normal rates for your test articles assuming they represent a
good faith effort. The test has both writing and editing components; you'll
need to write nine articles and edit ten articles. We require the writing
component so you know exactly what it is like for your writers.
